In 2013, Karissa completed an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Regina, and now has recently graduated with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta.
Growing up, Karissa enjoyed training and competing in both ITF Taekwon-Do and distance running. She competed for the University of Regina (2009-2013) and University of Alberta (2015-2016) cross country and track & field teams. Karissa has represented Canada in both Taekwon-Do and distance running, and continues to train and compete post-collegiately as a distance runner with Legacy Athletics. She is highly passionate about injury prevention and sport performance along with general health and well-being. She is eager to gain further experience helping people with all types of injuries.
Karissa enjoys spending time with family & friends, running/exercising, experiencing the great outdoors, the adventures it offers, and travelling.
